PURCHASING NEW GEAR ONLINE

All musical instruments have their own idiosyncrasies.  Since no two instruments of the same model will play or sound exactly alike, it's always best to play instruments before actually buying them, however this isn't always practical when the local dealer doesn't have the model or color you want.  At times like that remember than most online retailers have an exchange/refund policy on instruments, so if you don't like it you can exchange it or get a refund.  Also while an amp from an online seller will be pretty much the same amp as from a local dealer you should remember that EVERYTHING breaks.  Your local dealer may be way more supportive with repair issues if you bought the item from them.

$ Instrument Pro - All the major lines plus hard to find lines like Jay Turser.  (Jay Turser's JT401 is the best JT Bass.)

$ Same Day Music - Your order ships the same day or you get $100 cash!

$ Guitar Center - If there isn't a G.C. in your town, you can visit their online store instead.  But, even if you have a G.C next door you can still spend hours looking at the used gear listed on their website from every Guitar Center store!

$ www.MusiciansHut.com - Tons of music gear with an emphasis on the rhythm section.

Musicians Friend -  M.F. is the biggest.  I've never had a problem with any order from them.  (Same corporation owns Musicians Friend, Zzounds and Music 123 that owns guitar center.)

Zzounds - Big selection.  A good online dealer!  They carry Motion Sound amps which are sort of hard to find but a really good keyboard amp.

Music 123 - Mega online seller.  Quick shipping!  Nice people on the phone.

Carvin - Their only stores are in Hollywood, Santa Ana, Sacramento and at the main factory site in San Diego, CA.  So unless you are in California, or want to go there, the only place to buy new Carvin gear is online at their website.  Their bass amps (still made in the USA) while highly regarded are often overlooked because they don't spend a ton of money on advertising or promotion and because you can't just walk into the neighborhood shop and try one.  Carvin's B-1500 amp is one of the true beasts of bass.  Their instruments are mostly custom made to your exact specifications.  I've used their combo amps from time to time.  Timothy B. Schmidt of the Eagles and other major touring acts use Carvin amps & cabs.

The Bass Place - This bass-only shop in Tempe, Arizona store is now selling online and I give them my highest recommendation.  Once when I needed a part, nobody else had one but Dave at The Bass Place and he sent it out so fast it was there in a flash.  These people will not let you down!  They ONLY sell basses, bass amps, bass parts and bass accessories...and they have been doing it for over 20 years!

Elderly Instruments - New & used gear!  Vintage classics galore!

G-Base - Musician's Gear Source.  Basically this is a search engine for multiple dealers that resell used instruments.  Good place to find used basses or find out the going rate for a particular used model.
